The EdgarMay will provide an entry-level lifeguard certification course through the Red Cross from Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 4, 2026. Participants will learn First Aid, CPR, and emergency response in and out of the water from a certified Red Cross instructor. Participants must be 14 years or older, pass a prerequisite swim test, and successfully complete 7-hour online coursework prior to the start of class.
In-person Course Times:
Friday, Oct 2 — 3:30-8:00PM
Saturday, Oct 3 — 8:00AM-5:00PM
Sunday, Oct 4 — 8:00AM-5:00PM
Prerequisite Swim Test:
Jump in feet first in the deep end; resurface and begin swimming 150 yards of either freestyle with good rotary breathing and face in the water or breaststroke; begin treading water with no hands for 2 minutes; then swim the final 50 yards.
Retrieve a 10-pound object from the bottom of the pool and return it to the shallow end.
