Full-Time | Leadership Position
The Edgar May Health and Recreation Center is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Facilities to lead the operation, maintenance, and long-term stewardship of one of southern Vermont's premier community recreation facilities.
This is an exciting opportunity for a facilities professional who enjoys balancing leadership, problem-solving, preventative maintenance, and strategic planning while making a direct impact on the health and wellness of the community.
As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Director of Facilities will oversee building systems, aquatics infrastructure, facility maintenance, grounds operations, vendor relationships, capital improvement planning, and facility safety. This position is accountable for ensuring our facilities remain safe, clean, welcoming, and operating efficiently through a combination of direct work, staff supervision, and contracted services.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise facilities and maintenance staff
Manage day-to-day operations of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs
Oversee aquatics systems and pool mechanical operations
Coordinate repairs, maintenance projects, and contractor services
Maintain facility safety and regulatory compliance
Assist with annual budgeting and capital planning
Manage facility inventories, equipment, and operational assets
Support organizational events and programs
Participate as a member of the organization's Management Team
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
Ability to troubleshoot facility issues and coordinate repairs
Strong communication and organizational skills
Valid driver's license required
Aquatics or pool operations experience preferred
Technical training, trade certifications, or related education preferred
Certifications
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator certification
Physical Requirements
This position requires hands-on facility work, including:
Lifting up to 50 pounds
Indoor and outdoor work in all seasons
Climbing ladders and accessing rooftop equipment
Working at heights and in mechanical spaces
Performing manual labor and maintenance activities

We are seeking daytime, evening, and weekend lifeguards. Lifeguards are CPR and American Red Cross Lifeguard certified. The EdgarMay is willing to pay for the cost of the certification course for the right candidate. Must be 15 years or older to apply.

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to set up, operate, and belay on the EdgarMay’s 40-foot climbing tower. This seasonal position includes weekend and/or evening shifts. We will train the right candidate.

Seeking energetic individuals with experience instructing youth and/or adults. Must be comfortable communicating with children and their parents.
We will train the right candidate in the swim lesson curriculum. Red Cross Lifeguard certification a plus.

Our Custodial and Building Maintenance staff is seeking part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) help during evening and weekend hours between 9pm and 4am.
Responsibilities include cleaning, mopping, dusting, scrubbing floors, showers, counters, sinks, toilets, and other janitorial tasks. The ideal candidate is a hard worker who is reliable and consistent. Pay is commensurate with experience.

The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for safely and effectively delivering fitness instruction in a variety of modalities such as aerobic, spinning, strength building, Zumba, or yoga. Ideal candidate will be energetic and engaging with community members as well as a knowledgeable resource. Instructor must be able to teach multiple fitness levels, provide modifications when necessary, and ensure safety of all participants in the class. Instructors will need to develop all class plans and execute with proper form and cues. The right candidate will have an eagerness to learn and is motivated to come up with new, innovated class ideas.
Requirements:
—Current CPR/AED certification

As a Personal Trainer, you are the first line of contact for our growing list of members. Our members will rely on you for an accurate assessment of their fitness, as well as a personalized fitness strategy. Position also provides opportunity to teach both group exercise classes and innovative small group training programs.
Requirements:
— Must be a Certified Personal Trainer (preferably NASM).
— At least two years of experience
— Proven self-starter with Personal Training sales experience
— Have a degree in Exercise Science or related field of study (preferred)
— Experience with Functional Movement Assessment (ie: NASM OHSA, FMS).
— Enjoys working with all populations and levels of fitness.
— Aquatic or Group Fitness experience a plus.
