When can I use the Climbing Tower?
Anyone can use the Climbing Tower during Open Climb times. During these sessions, staff will be supervising, but you should plan to come with someone who can belay you or be prepared to belay others so that you may climb. You must register for Open Climb in advance. Open Climb is included in all memberships.
Do I need to check in at the Front Desk or should I go right to the Climbing Tower?
All Climbing Tower users should check in at the Front Desk first to ensure you have filled out the proper paperwork and so they may check you in.
Will there be staff available to belay me during Open Climb?
Staff will be on duty to supervise the Climbing Tower but will not always be available to belay each climber, or there may be a wait. To make your time at the tower most efficient, plan on bringing someone who can belay you.
What is a Belay Certification Class?
A Belay Certification Class allows you to learn to belay so that you and your climbing partner(s) can belay and climb at our tower. This 90-minute class teaches knot tying, the belay process, and risk management procedures. Once completed, you will be able to belay for the remainder of the season. Class time also includes time to climb. This course is required if you intend to belay others during our Open Climb and/or birthday parties or private events. Anyone age 14 and older can take the class.
What does it cost to use the Climbing Tower?
Open Climb is included in all EdgarMay memberships. Non-members can purchase a Climbing Day Pass for a session: youth (ages 5-12) for $10, teens (13-18) for $12, and adults (19+) for $15.
What happens if there is bad weather?
If we experience inclement weather, we must close the tower. All Climbing Day Pass fees will be refunded or a credit will be provided if we close within the first hour of your visit. For programs, every effort will be made to reschedule. If that is not an option, a credit will be provided.
What age do you need to be in order to use the Climbing Tower?
During Open Climb, children ages 5 to 13 are able to climb with their parents. Anyone 14 and older may use the tower.
What equipment is provided?
We provide all climbers with helmets and harnesses.
