Join the EdgarMay’s 30-day Mile-A-Day Challenge starting May 1. Depending on your current activity level and overall life schedule, walking or running a mile a day might sound like a lot, or it might sound relatively easy. No matter where you fall on the continuum we believe you're absolutely up for it.
Walking or running a mile a day with a 30-day challenge is a perfect foray into exercise if you're currently inactive, haven't been working out regularly, or if you're coming back from an injury, pregnancy, or time off for one reason or another. It is also a great challenge for training for an organized run/walk that may be a goal of yours.
Each day, you'll cover just one mile because we believe the most successful way to form a good habit is to use a manageable approach. You can choose to walk each day or follow the walk/jog program where you gradually build up to running a full mile.
Moving your body by walking, jogging, and/or running a mile a day is a good way to improve the health of your heart and lungs; lower your risk of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and certain cancers; strengthen your muscles, reduce stress, and improve your mood. A mile a day also helps you get closer to meeting the recommended 7,500-10,000 steps a day. For more information about this challenge, contact Kristen Miller.
